In August, Shop Party craft fair was held at a new off-the-radar venue called The Yard.

The Yard is an old building in the process of being repurposed. By day it’s home to One Tree Yoga Studio. By night it’s a performance space for Singer Songwriters. Recently, The Yard hosted well-known performer Rocky Votolato and hometown heroes Ashley Allred & Emily Jane White among others.

The Shop Party event provided the perfect backdrop for vendors selling everything from jewelry to hand jarred pickles. Hand crafted tamales were served. Attendees sipped homemade horchata and bloody marys as an acoustic set was played by The Blue Sunshine Family Band. Mixed media artists Benjamin Jacobsen and Angela Collver presented a selection of works.

Shop Party was created in 2010 by an artist and an event planner. The first event was born of their shared desire to create an outlet for local creatives. Over the years it has varied in size, style and location, but has always stayed true to their mission of promoting local artists and makers.

The next Shop Party event is slated for Sunday, December 14th at the Arlene Francis Center in Railroad Square.
